With a passion for everything health and wellbeing, Maria competed at a senior level in eventing, hockey and represented her country at handball. Being physically active, mentally focused, and resilient to challenges prepared her well for the competitive world of financial services, where she has spent much of her career.
Maria’s apprenticeship was served working for Sir Peter Wood (OBE), the founder of Esure and Direct Line. Maria then went on to work throughout Europe, India and in America with companies such as Citi Group (Chief Operating Officer for Europe), Marks and Spencer Money (Customer Services Director) and Privilege Insurance (Operations Director).
Maria decided to start Let’s Get Healthy after seeing first hand, the benefits of a healthy lifestyle for both businesses and individuals. Having worked extensively in the USA with HR teams, she could bring back to Europe experience of running programmes that were proven to financially benefit organisations, reducing absence and engaging employees.
Advisor to Dame Carol Black (National Director for Health and Work) and keen to help all, Let’s Get Healthy has raised over £50,000 for charity.
Maria passionately feels that her education and personal belief gave her choices in life which “she grabbed and ran with”. She is passionate about health and wellbeing and has ongoing determination to continue building a brand that is vibrant, inclusive, affordable and beneficial to all.
Maria Bourke is the founder of Let’s Get Healthy, a company she set up over 15 years ago. Her teams work across Europe delivering unique and innovative health and wellbeing programmes to well-established organisations such as DHL, Virgin Media, Sky, Travis Perkins, Co-op and William Hill.
